ΑAcademicians and independent researchers from Greece, Great Britain and the USA presented at the 1st Pan-Hellenic Conference on Mythology (held in Athens in May 2016), new positions and opinions on scientific research concerning the historical basis of various religions beliefs and personalities.
In their presentations, issues such as the following were approached: the relationship of Jesus with pre-Christian solar cults, the Mythological investigation of iconographic types, doctrines and customs such as the infant Mary, the transfiguration of the Virgin Mary and the Anastenaria, the importance of mythical thought and its extensions ancient Greek worldview in Christianity, the beginnings of the problematic surrounding the historicity of Jesus, the case of prosecution of a Greek Mythicist in the early 80s, but also the contemporary international trends of the Mythicist current.
